Lot 151: A Cast Stone Garden Ornament of a Sleeping Cherub
A cast stone garden ornament of a sleeping cherub or putto, nestled within the protective curve of feathered wings. The figure is depicted in a reclining, curled pose with eyes closed and hands resting naturally, framed by two large wings that form a rounded, shell-like base. The piece is constructed from reconstituted stone or concrete, featuring a heavily textured surface typical of outdoor statuary. The casting shows detailed feathered plumage on the wings and soft anatomical features on the central figure. A weathered, sandy-beige patina is present across the entire form, which has developed through exposure to the elements. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps on the surface of the ornament.
