Lot 172: A Vintage Galvanised Metal Dustbin and Matching Lid
A vintage galvanised metal dustbin of cylindrical form, accompanied by a matching domed lid. The body of the bin features characteristic vertical corrugated ribbing for structural reinforcement, finished with a rolled top rim and a heavy-gauge folded base. The lid is designed with a deep skirt and a centrally mounted riveted strap handle. The exterior surfaces show a weathered grey patina typical of age-exposed galvanised steel, with areas of surface oxidation and rust, particularly concentrated on the lid handle and the lower rim of the bin. The interior appears relatively clean, showing horizontal ribbing and a recessed base, with signs of light domestic use throughout. No manufacturer’s marks or stamps are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces.
