Start price: £8

Estimated price: £8 - £12

Buyer's Premium: 20%

A vintage brass tea kettle and companion trivet, featuring extensive hand-engraved and pierced decoration. The kettle is designed with a globular belly, a curved swan-neck spout, and a tall, shaped swing handle secured by hinged pins. The shoulder of the kettle is embellished with a chased floral and foliate band, while the domed lid is fitted with a turned finial. The matching circular trivet is raised on three slender turned legs and features a central openwork design depicting a leaping deer or stag amidst stylised pine trees and foliage. While no maker’s name is present, the style of the chasing and the specific animal motif are characteristic of mid-20th century brassware produced in India for the export market. The pieces are marked with a white adhesive label reading Lot 031 and a pink adhesive price sticker.
