Lot 568: A Collection of Glazed Ceramic Animal Figurines
A collection of multiple glazed ceramic animal figurines, commonly identified as Whimsies. The group features a diverse range of subjects including mammals, birds, and aquatic life. Notable figures include a brown bear positioned on its back, a seated fox with a dark brown glazed finish, an owl, a squirrel, and a white cat decorated with a blue bow. The collection also includes several dogs, a badger, and aquatic creatures such as a grey dolphin and a lobster. Each miniature is slip-moulded with fine detail and finished with a characteristic high-gloss translucent glaze. While these pieces are consistent in scale and style with items produced by the Wade pottery, no maker’s marks or backstamps are visible on the bodies of the figurines in the provided images.
