Lot 647: A Mid-Century Murano Emerald Green and Clear Art Glass Gondola
A mid-century art glass vessel designed in the form of a Venetian gondola. The piece is constructed from hand-blown emerald green glass cased within a thick clear glass layer, a technique characteristic of Murano production from this period. The long, slender hull features curved, upswept ends with applied clear glass decorative elements including a stylized ferro at the prow and a forcola oar rest at the stern. Two small decorative scrolls are applied to the gunwales near the centre. The boat is supported by an integral clear glass base with a textured, scalloped edge suggestive of waves. No maker’s signatures or manufacturer labels are visible on the glass.
