Lot 808: A Mid-Century Oak Fall-Front Bureau

The piece features a slanted fall-front which opens on two brass-toned hinges to reveal a fitted interior containing five pigeonhole compartments and a single central drawer with a small black pull. The writing surface is finished in a brown textured material. Below the desk portion are three graduated drawers, each fitted with two circular decorative metal boss-style pulls and vertical ribbed wooden handle mouldings. The bureau is of solid and veneered oak construction, with secondary woods used for the interior compartments and drawer linings. It is supported by four heavy turned bun feet. There are no visible maker’s marks, stamps, or labels on the piece.
