Lot 766: Two Vintage Stained Wood Magazine Racks
Two vintage wooden magazine racks. The first rack is of Canterbury style, constructed from dark-stained wood with two storage compartments divided by a central carry handle featuring an oval cutout. The front panel is decorated with an inset oval needlepoint tapestry depicting a multi-coloured floral bouquet. The piece is raised on four small turned wooden feet. The second rack is of a rustic, hand-hewn design in dark-stained wood, featuring an open-slat construction with decorative wavy-cut edges and a central carry handle. Both items bear various auction house lot stickers, including labels for Lot 766, 844, and 793. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit minor surface wear, scuffing, and light scratches consistent with age and domestic use. The needlepoint panel on the first rack remains intact. There is some adhesive residue and paper labels from previous auction listings present on the wooden surfaces.
