Lot 793: A Collection of British Royal Commemorative Ceramics and Glassware in Three Boxes and Loose
A large assortment of British royal commemorative items presented in three boxes and loose on a tabletop, comprising primarily ceramic mugs, collector plates, a lidded trinket box, and small dishes, alongside three pieces of glassware. The collection features various manufacturers, with several items housed in original presentation boxes including Aynsley and Sadler. Notable commemorative subjects include the 1977 Silver Jubilee, the 80th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (1980), the 1981 marriage of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer, the 1997 Golden Wedding Anniversary of HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, and the 2011 Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. One mug is produced for The National Trust and one glass features the Highgrove emblem. The pieces are constructed from fine bone china, porcelain, and glazed earthenware, decorated with transfer-printed portraits, heraldic motifs, and gilt rims. The glassware includes two etched glasses and one printed glass.
Condition report:
The items are in generally good condition. Some pieces remain in their original cardboard presentation boxes, which exhibit varying degrees of shelf wear and scuffing. Minor surface wear, dust from storage, and typical manufacturing imperfections such as light crazing to earthenware pieces may be present. No major chips or cracks are visible upon inspection.
