Start price: £5

Estimated price: £8

Buyer's Premium:

A framed Egyptian papyrus painting depicting the deity Anubis in the form of a reclining jackal atop a funerary shrine. The work is executed in opaque pigments, likely gouache or tempera, in a style consistent with modern Egyptian revival art. The shrine is decorated with vertical columns of Egyptian hieroglyphic characters. To the lower left, a blue-ground cartouche contains stylized light blue and red symbols, accompanied to its right by a handwritten signature in Arabic script. The papyrus features characteristic frayed edges and is mounted against a dark border within a wide cream-coloured mat and a wooden frame.

Condition report:

The artwork is in good overall condition with no obvious signs of damage to the papyrus or the painted surface. The pigments appear stable and well-preserved. The frame exhibits minor scuffs and wear consistent with age. A lot tag numbered 965 is attached to the upper frame.
