Lot 964: RIF, A Collection of Five Contemporary Surrealist Pen and Ink Drawings and an Abstract Work
A collection of five contemporary works on paper, comprising four intricate pen and ink drawings and one abstract composition. The drawings are executed on white wove paper in a highly detailed surrealist or psychedelic style, depicting fantastical biomorphic landscapes, strange flora and fauna, and mechanical elements. Three of the works bear printed titles on labels attached to the mounts: The QUEEN OF MACROCOSM, The PYXIDIUM, and PURL GARDEN. One drawing is inscribed with the monogram RIF in ink to the lower right of the composition. The fifth item is an abstract work in mottled brown and black tones, possibly an ink wash or print. All pieces are presented in modern black-bordered clip frames.
Approximate paper sizes: Four A3 and one A4.
Condition report:
The paper generally appears in good condition with some minor peripheral toning. The clip frames show minor surface wear and some dust under the glass.
