Lot 1006: An Art Deco style oak hall robe, mid-20th century
An Art Deco style oak hall robe of single-piece construction, dating to the mid-20th century. The exterior is finished in a medium-to-dark brown polish and features a central arched-top door with vertical graining, flanked by two slightly recessed side panels. The piece is raised on a scalloped plinth base with short, shaped feet. Hardware consists of a single vertical metal handle with a fluted design and a keyhole located below; the door is mounted on two external butt hinges. The interior is fitted with a single metal telescopic pull-out hanging rail. Included with the lot is a vintage olive green weatherproof coat with a quilted burgundy lining and a faux fur collar. The garment contains a black fabric label embroidered with the characters A WEATHERPROOF GARMENT and MADE IN HONG KONG, alongside a white care label. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the furniture.
Condition report:
The piece shows significant signs of age and wear consistent with use. There are numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss, particularly to the centre of the door and the lower plinth area. No key is present. The interior coat shows signs of age and wear.
