Lot 1008: Mid-20th Century Oak Grandmother Clock
A mid-20th century grandmother clock featuring an oak case with a dark-stained finish. The case is designed with a rounded arch hood over a straight trunk, supported by a stepped plinth base. The circular silvered dial is set with black Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, and ornate pierced black hands, all protected by glass within a chrome-plated bezel. The dial includes three winding apertures and a Slow-Fast regulation lever located at the 12 o’clock position. The internal mechanism consists of a mechanical three-train movement and a chime-on-rods system with five rods. The clock is accompanied by a brass winding key. While the style is characteristic of British manufacturers such as Smiths or Enfield, no maker’s marks are visible on the dial or the movement.
Condition report:
The clock case exhibits minor wear to the finish, particularly around the base and the dial bezel, consistent with age and use. The mechanical movement has not been tested for timekeeping or chiming functionality and is sold as seen.
