Lot 784: Late 20th Century Studio Style Hardwood Lounge Armchair
A single low-slung lounge armchair following a studio furniture or brutalist aesthetic. The frame is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood, likely oak, showing a prominent grain through the finish. The chair is characterised by its heavy-set construction and exceptionally wide, flat-topped armrests. Mortise and tenon joinery is visible where the horizontal seat rails meet the upright arm supports. It features a continuous, single-piece padded seat and back cushion. The upholstery is a tapestry-style weave with an all-over abstract and geometric pattern in muted tones of dusty pink, grey, tan, and cream. A paper auction tag from Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on one armrest, indicating lot number 784 and a handwritten reference number 9492. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible.
