Lot 845: A Pair of Vintage Plaster Slip Casting Moulds for a Handled Pitcher
A pair of two-part plaster slip casting moulds designed for the production of a ceramic handled pitcher or ewer. The moulds feature a hollow interior cavity in the form of a vessel with a single loop handle and a flared pouring spout. The two halves of the mould are fitted with blue plastic registration pins and corresponding receiving holes to ensure precise alignment during the slip casting process. The exterior of the moulds is rectangular with bevelled edges. One mould section bears a handwritten paper tag numbered 9492 and lot stickers from Liskeard Auction Rooms numbered 845. A partially obscured numerical mark is visible on the side of one section, containing the digits 2, 9, and 9. These moulds are characteristic of vintage ceramic hobbyist equipment produced by manufacturers such as Byron or Duncan.
