Lot 470: Alvey 525 / C12 / 7 Australian Snapper Sidecast Fishing Reel
This sidecast fishing reel is an Australian-made Alvey Snapper model, identified by the markings on the metal arm and the decorative faceplate sticker. The reel is constructed with a dark maroon mottled composite spool and stainless steel or chrome-plated metal components. Stamped into the metal mounting arm are the words MADE IN AUSTRALIA and the model designation 525 / C12 / 7. A small blue square label with the number 42 is also affixed to the metalwork. The face of the reel features a worn decorative sticker depicting a red snapper fish with the text ALVEY and SNAPPER REEL. The device includes mechanical controls for the RATCHET (OFF/ON) and DRAG (ON/OFF), as well as a stainless steel line guide. The reel remains spooled with monofilament line and includes a dark brown handle knob.
