Lot 376: A Collection of Marigold Carnival Glass Vases and Assorted Dishes
A collection of marigold carnival glass items, each featuring a characteristic iridescent orange-gold metallic finish over pressed glass. The lot includes two vases with ribbed bodies and flared, ruffled rims, one being larger than the other. Also included is a small twin-handled bon-bon dish with a ruffled rim and geometric patterning, and a bowl supported by four small scrolled feet with a textured exterior. The group is completed by several additional bowls and dishes of varying sizes. Patterns include central stars, geometric rays, and floral leaf motifs, with several items featuring candy-ribbon or pie-crust ruffled edges. The pieces are constructed from pressed glass with an applied iridescent metallic salt glaze. Although the associated handwritten lot note refers to these as cranberry type ware, they are accurately identified as marigold carnival glass. Observed patterns include the Thin Rib motif on the vases. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible, although the pieces are in the style of noted manufacturers such as Fenton, Northwood, and Imperial.
Taller vase height: approximately 25 cm to 30 cm.
