Lot 735: A set of George III revival style mahogany dining furniture comprising an extendable table and matching chairs
A mahogany dining suite in the George III revival style. The extendable oval dining table features a decoratively carved gadrooned edge and is supported by four substantial cabriole legs with shell-carved knees terminating in ball-and-claw feet. The table is pictured with two extension leaves in place. The set of matching dining chairs includes carvers and side chairs, each featuring a decoratively carved splat-back with a scrolled top rail and a woven cane seat. The chairs are raised on cabriole front legs with shell-carved knees and ball-and-claw feet, matching the design of the table legs. No manufacturer labels are visible, although the suite resembles the work of makers such as Drexel Heritage.
