Lot 930: A Collection of Artworks and a Mirror, including a Maritime Scene by H. Lane
A collection of artworks and a wall mirror comprising a maritime painting, a large gilt mirror, and two framed prints. The maritime painting is an acrylic on canvas executed in a contemporary naive style, depicting a coastal scene with a prominent red and white striped lighthouse on a green islet. A blue-hulled fishing vessel, decorated with red hearts and a monochrome checkered band, is shown on energetic white-capped waves. The brushwork is bold with impasto-like texture in the water, and several simplified seagulls are visible in the pale blue sky. The work is signed vertically along the right-hand edge H. LANE and is presented on an unframed, gallery-wrapped canvas. The large wall mirror is set within an ornate gold-toned moulded frame. Also included is a framed poster for Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, featuring the text of the book formed into silhouettes and accented with illustrations of sweets, set within a red frame.
