Lot 295: A Collection of Japanese Art of Chokin Porcelain and Assorted Decorative Items
A collection of decorative objects and collectibles, featuring several Japanese Art of Chokin porcelain cabinet plates and saucers. These pieces are decorated with metallic engravings of Mount Fuji, pagodas, and peacocks on black and white grounds, finished with 24 carat gold edging. A printed backstamp on the reverse of a black plate identifies the pieces as The Art of Chokin, noting the metallic engravings are created using an ancient technique gilded with gold and silver, originally used to decorate the armament of Samurai warriors, and specifies 24 carat gold edging and Made in Japan. Also included in the lot is a large circular metal charger with a vibrant blue enamel ground decorated with white floral motifs and a bird. Further items comprise several architectural house models, a resin puppy figurine seated in a teacup, a white ceramic fish-shaped sauce boat, a cut glass bowl with a metal spoon, and two small circular framed figurative prints.
