Lot 450: A Trio of Metalware including a Neoclassical Style Brass Lamp Base and an Indo-Persian Chased Bowl
This lot comprises three miscellaneous metalware items from the late 19th to early 20th century. The first item is a small copper pitcher of globular form featuring a narrow neck and a simple flat-section loop handle. The body is constructed in two sections with a prominent horizontal join at the midsection. The second item is a cast brass table lamp base designed in the neoclassical style as a fluted column on a square stepped plinth, terminating in a foliate capital with acanthus leaf motifs. It is fitted with an older-style bayonet bulb socket at the top. The third item is a large, deep circular bowl or jardiniere, possibly made of silvered copper or brass. The exterior surface is extensively hand-chased with a dense pattern of scrolling foliage, floral motifs, and figures of birds. The rim is finished with a pierced and scalloped edge. No maker’s marks are visible on any of the items.
