Lot 459: A Collection of Six Continental Porcelain Figurines
A collection of six glazed porcelain figurines, each modelled in eighteenth-century Rococo-style period costume. The group comprises three male and three female figures in various standing and seated poses, decorated in a palette of underglaze and overglaze blue with gold gilt highlights. Notable pieces include a standing lady in a blue-trimmed bodice bearing lot tag 459, a gentleman in a floral-patterned coat, and a seated lady in a floral-decorated gown. The figurines feature moulded details of period attire, including lace-effect ruffles and tricorn hats. On the underside of at least one figurine base is a mark in blue consisting of two crossed linear strokes, executed in the style of nineteenth-century German porcelain manufacturers.
