Lot 629: Ceramic Chinoiserie Style Ginger Jar Table Lamp with Peacock Decoration
A ceramic table lamp designed in the form of a traditional Chinese ginger jar with a matching lid. The body features a cream-coloured crackle-glaze finish and is decorated with transfer-printed Chinoiserie motifs of peacocks perched upon flowering branches. A slender blue line accents the rim of the lid. The lamp is mounted on a dark-stained, turned wooden base. The upper fittings include a brass-toned metal socket and a metal shade carrier. The lamp is wired with a white plastic-coated flex and a standard UK three-pin plug, currently fitted with a Philips compact fluorescent lamp bulb. No manufacturer marks or backstamps are visible on the exterior of the ceramic body or the base.
