Buyer's Premium:

A trio of antique hand-coloured copperplate engraved strip maps, also known as ribbon maps, published by Alexander Hogg (active late 18th century). These maps are based on the earlier landmark road surveys by John Ogilby and were produced for the publication The New British Traveller circa 1784.

The first map illustrates a route through Cornwall including Truro, St Michael, and St Columb. It features a decorative cartouche for the Arms of TRURO and detailed topographical notes regarding the towns.

The second map shows the route from London and Westminster through Middlesex to Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, including the settlements of Acton and Uxbridge. It is decorated with the Arms of LONDON, Arms of WESTMINSTER, and Arms of SOUTHWARK. The lower margin is printed with the credit: published by Alexr. Hogg.

The third map depicts a route through Middlesex and Surrey including Hounslow, Stanes (Staines), Egham, and Bagshot. It includes the Arms of WHITCHURCH and the Arms of SHAFTSBURY.

Each engraving is mounted and presented in a matching modern gilt-effect metal frame behind glass.
