Lot 671: A Pair of Art Deco Style Metal-Cased Ceramic Teaware Items
This lot comprises an individual-sized teapot and a matching twin-handled sugar bowl. The items are constructed from pink-glazed earthenware, each fitted with a removable hammered metal protective jacket, likely chrome or nickel-plated steel. Both pieces include their respective covers, which are topped with cream-coloured conical finials made of plastic or a similar early synthetic material like Bakelite. The teapot is designed with a short spout and a single loop handle, while the sugar bowl features two matching loop handles. The design is characteristic of mid-20th-century British teaware, appearing in the style of manufacturers such as Thermisol, Swan Brand, or Sadler. The sugar bowl bears a paper auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 671. No maker’s marks or backstamps are visible on the exposed ceramic or metal components.
