This lot comprises a large collection of phillumeny items and paper ephemera housed in five containers. The primary items are matchbox labels, matchbook covers, and complete or partial matchboxes, largely dating from the mid-20th century. Visible British brands and labels include Bryant and May, Falcon Safety Matches, Mace, Fire King, Guild Hall, Mascot, Tulip, Blue Peter, The Ship, Captain Webb, Player’s Navy Cut, and The Blue Cross. Items of regional interest include Penzance, Plymouth Breweries Limited, Devenish, and the Royal Foresters Hotel in Ascot. International phillumeny includes Swiss canton labels and Gilde-Bräu of Hannover. Additional ephemera within the lot includes a circular Gilde-Bräu beer coaster, a Cadet Sweets trade card from the Conquest of Space series (No. 12 Jet Propulsion), and a photographic print of St. Gennys Parish Church. The collection is contained within two plastic bins, a cardboard box, a green metal box with a glazed lid, and a rectangular brass-toned metal tin.
