The set is accompanied by nine numbered and slotted circular brass weights, which are engraved with the maker name Loftus and numerical values including 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80. Included within the set is a thermometer mounted on a bone or ivory scale, graduated from 30 to 110 degrees and inscribed Loftus London at the base. The components are housed in their original fitted mahogany case, which features string-inlay borders to the lid and a dark velvet-lined interior. The lid is secured with two brass hook-and-eye closures and is inset with a maker label for Loftus, 6 Beaufoy Terrace, London.
