Lot 660: A Wileman and Co Foley China Tea Trio Pattern 6893
A late Victorian fine bone china tea trio manufactured by Wileman and Co under the brand name The Foley China. The set comprises a teacup, a saucer, and a side plate, each featuring a distinctive scalloped and lobed fluted form. The pieces are decorated with pattern number 6893, which consists of transfer-printed teal-blue floral motifs amongst scrolling tan and ochre foliage. The rims and the angular handle are finished with hand-applied gilding. The base of each piece is marked with a gold backstamp featuring a central crest, the words THE FOLEY CHINA, and ENGLAND. The pattern number 6893 is hand-painted in gold on the underside of each component. A green registration number, partially legible as Rd 208389, is present on the base of the teacup. This lot is identified with Liskeard Auction Rooms tag 660.
