Lot 681: A Pair of Victorian Relief-Moulded Flow Blue and Copper Lustre Earthenware Jugs
A pair of relief-moulded earthenware jugs, likely of English Staffordshire origin. These pitchers feature ovoid bodies with flaring, scalloped spouts and ornate rococo-style scrolled handles. The exterior is decorated with white relief-moulded scenes against a cobalt blue wash ground in the flow blue style. One jug depicts a couple dancing in period attire, while the other shows a seated figure, a design frequently associated with the Idle Apprentice pattern. The raised borders, scrolled handles, and scalloped rims are finished with hand-applied copper lustre and gilt highlights. The base of each jug is finished with a simple moulded band.
