Lot 689: A Collection of Mid-20th Century Hand-Painted Ceramic and Porcelain Character Figurines
A collection of assorted hand-painted ceramic and porcelain character figurines, featuring a variety of domestic and pastoral subjects. The group includes an elderly woman seated on a bench with a bowl and colourful balls of yarn, an elderly woman in a red headscarf holding a ginger cat, a standing gentleman in a grey top hat and green trousers, and a seated gentleman in a blue coat and yellow breeches. Also included are a pair of children standing on a circular grassy-textured mound base, a lady and gentleman seated together on a settee, and several other figures in period-style attire, such as a woman with a gift box and a man in a green hat carrying a parcel. The figurines exhibit a variety of finishes, including glazed porcelain and matte bisque. No factory marks or maker’s signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces.
