Lot 695: A collection of English Cottageware and novelty glazed earthenware ceramics
An assortment of mid-20th-century English glazed earthenware ceramics, primarily featuring pieces in the Cottageware style. The collection includes a large biscuit barrel modelled as a two-storey brick cottage with a thatched roof and wicker swing handle; a teapot designed as a cream-walled cottage with a thatched lid and hand-painted foliage; a small lidded pot inscribed Pixie Cottage; a bee skep honey pot with a moulded bumblebee detail; and a variety of miniature cottage-themed condiment or preserve pots, including one with a blue base and red-tiled roof and a small cream jug. Also included is a circular, dark brown glazed earthenware dish with a fluted lid. The items are relief-moulded with hand-painted coloured glazes. While no maker marks are visible in the provided images, these pieces are characteristic of mid-century English potteries such as Price Kensington, Ye Olde Cottage, or Keele Street Pottery.
