Lot 401: A Japanese Nunome Hand-Painted Fine China Seven-Piece Relish Set in a Wooden Tray
A mid-20th-century Japanese seven-piece ceramic hors d’oeuvres or relish set by Nunome. The set comprises a central circular lidded bowl and six surrounding fan-shaped dishes. The pieces are decorated with hand-painted cherry blossom sprays in shades of pink, white, and brown on a cream-glazed ground, finished with gilded rims. The base of the ceramic components bears a gold backstamp featuring the cursive text Hand painted above a decorative scrolled cartouche containing the word NUNOME, with FINE CHINA and MADE IN JAPAN below. The entire set is presented in its circular wooden tray, which features a vertical fluted edge.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs visible. There is minor surface wear consistent with age and use, and the wooden tray shows light scuffing to the base.
