Lot 437: A Collection of Silver-Plated Tableware and Decorative Items including Flower Holders and Pierced Baskets
An assortment of silver-plated (EPNS) decorative and functional items. The lot includes several pierced silver-plated bon-bon dishes and baskets, including examples with swing handles and decorative fretwork. There is a group of four circular silver-plated flower holders, each fitted with a removable wire mesh grid and featuring embossed foliate decoration around the bases. Also included is a silver-plated wirework basket with a swing handle containing a quantity of assorted silver-plated flatware, including spoons and forks, some with green composite handles. Hollowware items include a metal teapot with a black composite handle and lid knob, a small silver-plated cream jug, and a slender bud vase. The collection is completed by a silver-plated shell-shaped dish and a small cast metal model of a steam locomotive. A handwritten auction tag identifies the items as silver plate. No specific maker’s marks were clearly discernible during inspection.
Condition report:
The items exhibit typical signs of age and use, including general tarnishing, surface scratches, and some areas of wear to the silver plating. The wirework on the baskets and flower holders appears largely intact. The teapot and model locomotive show some surface wear.
