Lot 458: A Collection of Commemorative and Silver-Plated Wares including Margaret Thatcher and Royal Memorabilia
This collection comprises an assortment of commemorative items and silver-plated decorative wares. It includes a circular silver-plated dish with a scalloped rim and engraved foliate scroll border. The centre of the dish is engraved with a facsimile signature of Margaret Thatcher above the text THE FIRST WOMAN PRIME MINISTER OF THE UNITED KINGDOM. Also present is a rectangular lithographed tin box produced for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, featuring a central portrait of the monarch on a blue ground with a red ribbon scroll inscribed QUEEN ELIZABETH II CORONATION 2ND JUNE 1953. The collection contains a small rectangular photograph frame with a beaded inner border, presented in a purple velvet-lined box with an applied label marked SILVER. Additional pieces include an octagonal lidded box featuring engraved scrollwork to the sides and a pink and white panel to the lid, a lidded condiment pot, and two small fluted dishes. The lot is completed by three pieces of silver-plated serving flatware consisting of a butter knife with an ornate handle, an engraved cake server, and a serving spoon.
