Lot 613: A Polished Brass Three-Draw Telescope in a Fitted Wooden Case
A polished brass three-draw telescope of traditional maritime design. The instrument features three extending draw-tubes and a main barrel. It is equipped with a sliding dust cover for the eyepiece and a sliding sunshade at the objective lens end. The brass surfaces have a high-polish finish. The telescope is accompanied by a rectangular wooden storage box, constructed from a stained hardwood. This box is fitted with brass corner reinforcements, brass hinges, and a central brass swing-latch closure. No maker’s marks or engravings are visible on the brass components or the wooden box. The item is designed in the style of 19th-century naval instruments, frequently referred to as an Officer of the Watch telescope.
