Lot 909: A mid-20th-century oak granddaughter longcase clock
A mid-20th-century granddaughter longcase clock, constructed from oak with a dark-stained finish and prominent grain. The case features a simple arched hood, a tapering rectangular trunk, and a stepped box base. The circular silvered dial is set with black Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, and ornate dark metal hands, all protected by a glass cover within a chrome-plated bezel. The mechanical, spring-driven movement is a two-train system, indicated by two winding holes on the dial face, typically used for timekeeping and striking functions. No manufacturer’s mark is visible on the dial. The trunk currently bears contemporary auction house lot labels and a handwritten reference number.
