Lot 549: A Collection of Motoring and Transport Nostalgia Greeting Cards and Ephemera
This collection consists of motoring-themed ephemera, primarily comprising modern nostalgia cards and promotional postcards. The group includes several large-format blank greeting cards published by Rothbury Cards, identifiable by the red triangular corner mark RC Rothbury Cards Blank. These cards feature detailed illustrations of mid-20th-century British transport and village life, including a scene at a village garage with a silver grand tourer and a gathering of motorcyclists outside a country inn. The collection also includes smaller cards and postcards depicting vintage advertisements for iconic British motorcycle manufacturers, notably a Triumph card featuring the slogan The Best Motorcycle in the World and another for Norton. European scooter brands such as Vespa and Lambretta are also represented in the assortment. One card is a promotional piece for the Brooklands The British 1000 Miles Race, which notes it was organised by the Junior Car Club for June 3rd and 4th. These items are modern commemorative reproductions rather than period-original advertising materials. Two auction lot labels are visible within the group, one printed Lot 549 and one hand-written with the number 13.
Condition report:
The collection is in good to very good condition throughout. The printed colours remain bright and saturated. There is no visible evidence of foxing, heavy creasing, or tearing to the cardstock. The items appear to be in unused condition.
