A modern colour reproductive print after an original work by S. Francis Smithson (ATD, BA, FRSA). The maritime scene depicts the SS Great Britain arriving at South Street, New York, on 10th August 1845 during her maiden voyage, shown under both steam and sail power amidst various smaller vessels and a busy dockside. The print bears a printed signature Smithson to the lower right of the image area. Printed text in the lower margin includes the title, the artist’s name and credentials, and a copyright notice for the S.S. Great Britain Project. The print is presented in a contemporary mahogany-toned wooden frame with a gold-coloured inner slip and a cream mount.
