Lot 611: UK 1851 Great Exhibition Bronze Service Medal, BHM-2462
British bronze service medal for the 1851 Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations. The obverse features the Prince Albert bare head type signed by W. Wyon R.A. The reverse is the Laurel wreath type encircling the inscription FOR SERVICES. The piece is inscribed on the edge to the recipient THOMAS WESTBURY HALL. It is presented in its original period fitted square hinged case, which features a maroon textured exterior, a cream silk lid lining, and a recessed blue velvet interior. This medal was issued by the Royal Commission to individuals who provided specific services to the exhibition organisers.
