Lot 808: A Gothic Revival Hardwood Two-Tier Wall Hanging Shelf Unit
A wall-hanging shelf unit in the Gothic Revival style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The unit is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood, likely oak, and features two fixed open shelves. The side supports are decorated with pierced ecclesiastical-inspired motifs, including quatrefoil and lancet-style cut-outs, and are finished with a scalloped decorative top rail. The assembly uses mortise and tenon joinery with prominent, decorative exposed wooden pegs. Two brass keyhole hanging plates are fixed to the reverse of the upper rail for wall mounting. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the item; labels present are temporary auction house identifiers.
