Lot 816: Late Victorian Carved Mahogany Mirror-Back Sideboard with Serpentine Marble Top
A late Victorian mahogany mirror-back sideboard or chiffonier, featuring a superstructure with a central arched mirror plate. The mirror is housed within a mahogany frame decorated with pierced foliate scrolls to the shoulders and surmounted by a central carved foliate crest. The lower section features a serpentine-fronted top in a reddish-brown veined marble. The primary timber is mahogany with a dark-stained finish. The construction and decorative elements are characteristic of late 19th-century cabinet making. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the piece, although an auction lot label is affixed to the frame and a small circular sticker is present on the marble surface.
