Lot 532: A Collection of Vintage Photographic Equipment Including Zorki 4 Rangefinder Camera, Hanimex Zoom Lens, and Boxed Instacon Miniature Set
A pair of graduated blue and white transferware lidded tureens with matching underplates, manufactured by Pountney and Co. Ltd. of the Bristol Pottery, Fishponds, Bristol, England. The items are constructed from earthenware and feature the Florian pattern, characterized by a dense floral border comprising primroses, daisies, and various other flowers set against a stippled background. The tureens are of a rounded form with two loop handles and a decorative handle on each lid. The decoration is applied via transfer printing, leaving the interiors and the centres of the lids plain white. The base of the pieces bears a blue transfer-printed triangular mark. This mark includes the text Pountney and Co Ltd along the top edge, Florian Pattern along the left edge, Bristol along the right edge, and England along the bottom edge. A central symbol of two crossed lines or swords is present within the triangle, and a small blue asterisk-shaped mark is located above it.
