Lot 153: A Pair of Weathered Natural Stone Staddle Stone Caps
This lot comprises two pieces of traditional terracotta earthenware, potentially of British regional origin. The first vessel is a cylindrical storage jar featuring a horizontally ribbed or corrugated body, two lateral lug handles, and a flat lid with a central knob. The second vessel is a globular pitcher with a narrow neck and a flared, wavy rim with a pinched pouring spout, fitted with a single strap handle. Both items are characterised by a natural unglazed exterior and a contrasting dark chocolate-brown glaze to the interior, likely a ferruginous slip glaze. No maker’s marks are present. Both items bear handwritten vendor labels.
