Lot 730: A Collection of Konica Photographic Equipment Including a TC-X 35mm SLR Camera Body
A large Victorian-era family Bible, attributed to the National Comprehensive Family Bible series. The volume is bound in heavy black pebbled leather over thick boards, featuring four ornate gilt-brass corner mounts with foliate scrollwork. The front cover is set with a central brass-framed panel depicting a robed figure holding a lantern in the style of Holman Hunt’s “The Light of the World,” further decorated with four circular quatrefoil motifs. The binding shows evidence of two missing metal clasps at the fore-edge. The interior text of the Old Testament is arranged in a double-column format with central marginal references and extensive scholarly commentary at the foot of each page. Page headers include “The brazen serpent. NUMBERS, XXI. B.C. 1452.” and “Sundry journeys of the Israelites. NUMBERS, XXI, XXII. B.C. 1452.” No title page or publication date is visible. A white auction label is affixed to the front cover reading “HCP Auctions South West / Lot 731”.
