Lot 749: A Trio of White Glazed Ceramic Ornaments including Two from Royal Doulton
This set of Chinese export porcelain comprises a collection of bowls and matching spoons decorated in the traditional Wan Shou Wu Jiang (boundless longevity) pattern. The items are crafted from white porcelain with overglaze polychrome enamels. The bowls feature a cinnabar-red ground with four circular medallions containing the stylised Chinese character Shou (longevity), set against a background of dense floral and foliate scrolls. The rims and foot-rims are decorated with green and yellow meander or Greek key borders. The spoons are white-glazed with a matching central red medallion and decorative scrollwork on the handles. This style is characteristic of porcelain produced in major Chinese factory centres such as Jingdezhen during the mid-to-late 20th century. One spoon has an adhesive label and the lot is accompanied by a tag for lot 750.
