Lot 10: A Regency Mahogany Sarcophagus Form Tea Caddy
A Regency-period mahogany tea caddy of sarcophagus form, dating to the early 19th century. The piece features a stepped lid with boxwood stringing and a central raised rectangular panel. The front is fitted with a light-coloured circular escutcheon of mother-of-pearl and is accompanied by a metal key. The interior is divided into three sections, consisting of two end tea canisters with hinged wooden lids flanking a central circular well lined with faded red fabric. This central well was originally designed to accommodate a glass blending bowl.
