Lot 31: An Edwardian Sterling Silver Multi Tool Pocket Knife and Propelling Pencil by Harrison Brothers and Howson Sheffield 1905
This set comprises an Edwardian sterling silver cased multi tool pocket knife and a matching miniature silver propelling pencil. The pocket knife features silver handle scales with engine turned diagonal fluted decoration. It is fitted with a five piece steel toolset consisting of a large pen blade, a secondary smaller blade, a pair of folding scissors, a nail file with a pointed tip, and a serrated saw or fish scaler tool. The scales bear full British hallmarks for the Sheffield assay office, including the maker’s mark H B H for Harrison Brothers and Howson, the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown for Sheffield, and the date letter n for 1905. The accompanying accessory is a miniature silver propelling pencil or lead holder with engraved floral banding and a suspension ring.
