Lot 119: A Set of Four George V Sterling Silver Teaspoons by William Suckling Ltd, Birmingham 1935
A set of four sterling silver teaspoons manufactured by William Suckling Ltd. The spoons are designed in a plain style featuring oval bowls and tapering handles that terminate in rounded ends. Each handle is engraved on the front with the monogram BW in a cursive script. The reverse of each spoon handle is struck with a series of hallmarks: the maker mark WSS in separate punches for William Suckling Ltd (William Suckling and Sons), the lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, the anchor assay office mark for Birmingham, and the lowercase date letter l corresponding to the year 1935.
