Lot 126: A Pair of Antique British Sterling Silver Thimbles, Birmingham and Chester Hallmarks, dated 1900
A pair of hallmarked sterling silver thimbles dating to 1900. The first thimble features a traditional engine-turned honeycomb pattern. It bears the maker mark HU for Henry Underwood, along with the anchor for Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the date letter a for the year 1900. The second thimble is decorated with an embossed geometric star and floral motif. This item features a visible vertical seam and bears the maker mark CH for Charles Horner, the lion passant, a partially obscured Chester assay mark, and the date letter z for 1900. It is also stamped with the size mark 16 within a rectangular shield.
