Lot 128: A Sterling Silver and Blue Velvet Miniature Slipper Pincushion
A contemporary British sterling silver novelty pincushion fashioned in the form of a miniature Victorian-style slipper. The piece features a rounded toe and is embellished at the throat with two applied silver rose floral motifs. The shoe opening is fitted with a padded blue velvet cushion. The side of the slipper bears three distinct punch marks comprising the maker’s mark LT within a diamond-shaped cartouche, the fineness mark 925 within an oval, and a symbol within a clipped rectangular cartouche consistent with the London assay office mark. The underside of the shoe is further stamped with the numerals 925.
