Lot 136: Sterling Silver and Blue Guilloche Enamel Smelling Salts Bottle, Levi and Salaman, Birmingham 1923
An Art Deco sterling silver and guilloche enamel-topped smelling salts bottle. The vessel features a clear glass body of octagonal faceted form, currently containing its original white crystalline salts. It is fitted with a hallmarked sterling silver screw-top cap. The cap is finished with a circular panel of translucent cobalt blue guilloche enamel over an engine-turned sunburst pattern. The silver cap bears a full set of British hallmarks including the maker mark L & S for Levi and Salaman, the Birmingham anchor assay office mark, the lion passant sterling silver standard mark, and the date letter y for 1923.
